The three components of knee implants are as follows: –
- The tibial component has two elements which replaces the top of the tibia (Tibia). This prosthesis consists of a metal tray attached directly to the bone and a plastic spacer that provides the surface.
- The femoral component replaces the bottom of the thigh bone (femur). This component also replaces the groove where the kneecap (Kneecap) sits.
- The patellar component replaces the surface of the kneecap that rubs against the femur. The patella protects the joint and the resurgent patellar button slides smoothly on the front joint. This may or may not be replaced, according to the patient's condition.
