back hip pain pregnancy
ways to relieve back pain during pregnancy?

I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with my third baby and the baby lying on my pelvis .. is the hip pain Causin me and back pain … Anyone know a way to facilitate this, please would be grateful

Our coach class delivery promised delivery of the ball (the same as a regular exercise ball that is much less expensive) to do the trick! It seems to help some, but was in my third trimester so I dont know if you experience the same problem. I would just sit on it and roll around some while watching TV or anything. He said is because the extra weight of baby messes with the postural muscles to cramp and lower back the ball rolling all these areas opens back up. We hope that you feel better:)

HIP PAIN??? 20 WEEKS PREGNANT!!!?

Hi everyone,

I know that it is normal to have hip pain in pregnancy but I thought that it didn’t happen until the 3rd trimester. I am almost 21 weeks pregnant and my left hip hurts so bad sometimes. Both are sore but whichever side I sleep on more seems to hurt more… makes sense.
When did you start experiencing hip pain in pregnancy??
Is it weird that I’m experiencing it this early on?
Thank you!
I’ve gained probably 10 to 12 pounds

nope its not weird at all
i started experiencing the same thing around the same time

your body is going through drastic changes
your pelvic bones are actually moving outwards lil by lil every week in preparation for delivery

and even though your just 20 weeks preg
the weight from fluid placenta umbilical cord and baby are quite a weight on the sensitive nerves and muscles around your hips and
the side you sleep on gets irritated

i know its horrible
i feel for ya
im there now…

hope your pregnancy goes well
good luck (:

Hip Joint Replacement – Expectation and Limitations

Hip Replacement – Causes and Treatments

A surgical operation to replace the inside surface of the hip joint (the “ball and socket”).

Description of Hip Replacement

Time, injury to the joint, coupled with arthritis, may lead to degeneration of the hip joint, causing pain, deformity, and restricted movement. Hip replacement surgery, also called total hip arthroplasty (THA), hip resurfacing, or total hip resurfacing may be an option if your daily activities are limited by uncontrollable pain and your x-rays show an end-stage arthritis not amenable to other treatments.

The goals of hip replacement surgery are pain relief, return to function, and routine activities of daily living. For more than 30 years, hip replacement surgery has provided an improvement in quality of life and led to a dramatic change in patients’ lifestyles that suffered from arthritic conditions of the hip joint. In the U.S., more than 200,000 hips are replaced each year. The operation is by far the most successful surgery for treating advanced arthritis of the hip, and it may be one of the most successful surgeries ever developed in terms of dramatic change in patient function.

The most common reasons for hip replacement surgery are : -

* Osteoarthritis : – Generally attributed to wear and tear with age, osteoarthritis is a gradual deterioration of the cartilage that cushions bones within a joint. As cartilage wears away, surrounding joint structures grow irregularly and can become inflamed and painful. Eventually bone can begin to rub against bone. Most forms of osteoarthritis are likely due to a structural or anatomical minor abnormality of the joint that produces abnormal mechanics of the joint over the years, leading to wear.

* Rheumatoid arthritis : – Inflammation of the tissues surrounding joints leads to worn and swollen joints. This disease may eventually lead to deterioration of cartilage and destruction of joints. Typically, multiple joints are involved, including the neck (cervical spine) which may be life-threatening if left untreated.

* Osteonecrosis : – (also known as Avascular necrosis (or AVN)): A loss of blood supply to the ball of the hip joint occurs. There may be an association with blood clotting factors or proteins and cholesterol metabolism. The result is pain, eventual collapse of the surface of the ball (femoral head), and in the end-stages, severe arthritis may develop, The most common causes that lead to a loss of this blood supply are: heavy alcohol intake on a regular basis, chronic use of oral steroids, such as Prednisone, prior trauma or surgery to the hip (hip dislocation or fracture), blood disorders that may block the blood supply (sickle cell disease), HIV disease (likely causes osteonecrosis in relation to the medications prescribed for HIV), and idiopathic (no known reason established). Less common disorders include metabolic diseases and chronic exposure to high underwater atmospheric pressure (Caisson’s disease).

* Hip disorders or fractures : – Hip replacement surgery is also used to repair disorders and fractures of the hip, although less commonly. Occasionally, a partial hip replacement (hemiarthroplasty) may be performed in the treatment of a hip fracture.

Treatment of Hip Replacement

Different Types of Hip Replacements : -

* Total Hip Replacement : – Both the ball and the socket are replaced; the socket is replaced wit ha metallic or plastic cup (with or without screws), while the ball is replaced with a ball attached to a long stem. The stem is fixed into the upper thigh bone (femur) with either a porous bone ingrowth surface, or, with cement. The movement of the hip occurs as the head or ball rotates on the surface of the cup. Various surface combinations are available (see below).

* Hip Resurfacing : – Total and Hemi (partial): Less commonly performed, these procedures are now becoming available in the U.S. They are similar to a total hip replacement. In total resurfacing, no stem is placed, and the ball is resurfaced only, and glides against a cup placed in the socket. In a hemi resurfacing, only the head is resurfaced, and the socket is left alone. The metal head glides against the patients own cartilage in the socket. There are advantages and disadvantages of these techniques, which sho0uld be discussed with the surgeon preoperatively.

* Surface Options in Hip Replacement : – The surfaces that glide together in a hip replacement make up the bearing surface. This is most commonly a metal ball against a polyethylene (plastic) liner. Other options of bearing surfaces have been developed and studied and are available for use in the U.S. The purpose of these alternatives is to potentially reduce the “wear over time” that occurs with polyethylene. Examples of these surfaces are noted below. Again, there are advantages and disadvantages of each of these surface combinations, and patients should inquire preoperatively which surface is best for them:

Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement Surgery

Recently, minimally invasive hip replacement surgery has become a popular alternative to having a standard incision hip replacement. There are many advantages and few disadvantages of this less invasive surgery. Not all patients are candidates for this type of surgery. You should discuss this with your doctor to determine if it is appropriate for your condition.

hip pain medication
I have intense pain in my right lower back, hip, thigh and knee?

I had xrays for hip and knee problems, but only some minor arthritis showed up. I can’t sleep on my back because of the pain. I take pain medication, but sometimes nothing helps. I have trouble sleeping because the pain becomes so intense. I use Tiger Balm and hot pads which do help, but I have to keep warming the pad because the pain won’t go away. My doctor said he might want to give me shots that could possibly help. Do I have a pinched nerve? I had a pinched nerve about 7 years ago and it went away with steroids, but they made me feel terrible. I felt like I was going in slow motion and had brain fog. I gained about 7 lbs during a short period. Does anyone have any advice for me? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Josie,

I have 2 bulging discs at L3 and L4 and then again at L4 and L5. I too sleep with a heating pad at night and can only sleep a few hours at a time before having to get up a while.

I have in the past had several epidurals for the pain and they do help but are expensive. You might ask your doctor about having an anesthesiologist do an epidural for the sciatica pain. It beats having to take steroids orally and deal with all the side effects associated with them. I think before they would do the epidurals on me I had to have a MRI. I’m not sure if you have had one of those yet.

I dont know if you have tried them but I like those pain patches you can buy at the store. They get powerful hot a little bit after you put them on but they really do help out with pain. You cant use these when you use a heating pad but they come in handy for me in the daytime.

Hope you get better soon Josie. :-)

Hip Pain Exercises Yoga

hip pain exercises yoga
Best of the body low-impact aerobics background?

What are the best low-impact aerobic exercises for the hamstrings, calves, hips and buttocks? My knees make noise, no danger of cracking (w / or pain), though I'm young and fit. Apparently, it is fluid in the knees probably caused by my children dance and all physical activity. Therefore, I am afraid that exercises like squats and slots could aggravate my knees, but I want something more intense than yoga or pilates.

First, I would not underestimate Pilates or yoga. My Pilates helps my breathing, posture, flexibility, balance and overall strength — all good things. The best exercise for lower body, given its location, is the elliptical machine. The best thing (as most of gyms) have different programs (hill, random, manual, etc), and the settings of the resistance (the problem) and, of course, time. minute, the elliptical burns more calories. You can also do the reverse, which works the muscles in different ways. The hamstrings, calves, hips and buttocks are working very hard on the ellliptical. A second possibility is stationary recumbent bike, but you burn fewer calories per minute and does not work the lower body as well. On the other part, would like to recline a little variety is good if you're too tired to contest the ellipse, and of course you can sit, while the elliptical (A machine to simulate cross country skiing to some extent) is his position. You might also consider some machines with low body weight, rather free weight squats and cracks that you mentioned. legs, machines hamstrings, calves, calf extensions, curls ass veal calves, and everyone else can be done with minimum weight. crepitus, which is the sound experience, is generally benign, but you are right to be cautious. Move slowly and listen to your body. And good luck!

hip pain early pregnancy
Why do I have pain on my right hip, which makes my right leg numb?

I am 15 wks pregnant with my second child. This pregnancy is totally different from my first. I am wondering why I am feeling the sciatic nerve pain so early in my pregnancy. My baby is only the size of a lemon! How do I help eas the pain and is this the sciatic nerve feeling or is it something else?

It sounds like you’ve had this pain with your first pregnancy. Even though your baby is very small, the nerves in your hip and leg could still be under more stress now, resulting in the hip pain and leg numbness. I’ve attached website links for you, but I’d also suggest you see your doctor right away.

Also, I am guy, so I am looking for a female instructor (don’t really want to see another dude contort himself) and a classical or new age soundtrack. I don’t want to hear today’s hip-hop hits in the background as I want to escape. Thanks.
