Computer Assisted Hip Replacement

Computer Assisted Hip Replacement Surgery in India

Computer Guided Surgery is also known as Image Guided Surgery Or Surgical Navigation Minimally invasive hip replacement surgery is a new type of surgery that can have you back on your feet faster than ever before. Thanks to a smaller incision, there is less trauma to the underlying muscles and soft tissues resulting in a smaller scar, less post-operative pain and a faster return to normal activities. In fact, minimally invasive hip replacement surgery may allow faster recovery compared to traditional hip replacement surgery….

Minimally invasive Hip Replacement surgery

Minimally invasive surgery represents a new way to perform hip replacement surgery….

Less Pain : - Trauma caused by tissue damage causes pain and swelling during part of the normal healing process. Since less invasive surgery requires far less cutting and dissection of normal tissues, the end result is less pain during recovery.

Faster Recovery : - With minimally invasive surgery, the time needed in the hospital to gain independence and achieve comfort is shortened considerably….

Who is a candidate for minimally invasive hip replacement?

Generally, anyone can benefit from a less invasive surgical technique. In some cases, due to the size or weight of the patient, the incision must be extended, but the trauma to the surrounding tissues will still be reduced when compared to traditional surgery. Your orthopaedic surgeon will try to keep the incision as small as possible, but there are times when the patient is best served by a larger incision….

Computer-assisted hip replacement surgery

Computer-assisted hip replacement surgery gives orthopaedic surgeons greater ability to perform less invasive procedures due to the enhanced surgical visualization. It also allows more accurate hip implant alignment and positioning by providing an advanced connection to medical technologies….

How computer-assisted surgery works?

Before beginning the hip replacement procedure, your surgeon helps the computer locate specific landmarks and take critical measurements of your body. Once the computer has this basic information, it can track the precise position of your leg and pelvis, the hip implant and the surgeon’s instruments at all times during your surgery…

What are the patient benefits of computer-assisted surgery ?

Computer assisted surgery gives orthopaedic surgeons greater capabilities to perform less invasive procedures due to enhanced visualization. A smaller incision made during your hip replacement surgery means less trauma to the underlying muscles and soft tissues as well as less blood loss. This leads to a shorter hospital stay, shorter rehabilitation and a faster return to a greater quality of life…

Positioning of Implants Is Critical

While you may not realize it, one of the most critical aspects of a joint replacement surgery is to ensure proper positioning of the implanted joint. An incorrectly aligned joint can lead to early wear and loosening of the joint replacement. Similar to the alignment of the wheels on your car, a poorly aligned joint replacement will cause problems with early wear of the replacement….

Should I Have Computer-Assisted Surgery ?

Computer-assisted surgery is just developing, and there is certainly not enough known about CAS to say that it will lead to better results than standard surgical procedures. CAS has been shown to make it less likely that limb alignment problems will occur after knee replacement surgery, but the computer models do not eliminate the chance of these errors being made. Furthermore, computer modeling does not take into account the soft tissues around the joint, which are as critical as the bone-alignment of the extremity. Therefore, current CAS only address a part of the problem of implant alignment…

  • Data acquisition.
  • Data transfer.
  • Pre operative planning.
  • Patient registration.
  • Navigation during surgery.
  • Implant Verification.

  • Restoration of soft tissue balance.
  • Restoration of limb length.
  • Minimally invasive technique.

Advantages of Computer Guided Surgery

  • Minimal risk of Pulmonary embolism
  • Increased implant longevity.
  • 3 Dimensional planning.

Cementless hips last longer. You want a cementless hip with porous coating and distal fluting for initial fixation. (Stryker Secure Fit Plus Max for example)

The implants very from country to country. But you want a ceramic head if possible on a highly crosslinked polyethlene liner. (Stryker X-3 in the USA)

Do not push for minimal invasive. The studies have shown no benefit and there is an increased risk of implant malposition requiring revision (redo). See source.

Rehab takes about 2 weeks for the rough stuff. Most people are back to work in 6 weeks. For 12 weeks after surgery you have to be careful what position you put your leg in. For the rest of your life you are restricted in activity. No running, no jumping, and no heavy lifting.

How long the pain medication after total hip replacement?

Hello, how long people tend to take pain medications after surgery? I am 5 weeks and just curious, I have pain and still feel a little weird without them? (Please do not reply if you just want the points and do not really know anything)

He had both hips replaced in separate companies. Following the dismissal of the hospital after my first surgery gave me a prescription for Tylenol 3 I took for a couple of weeks. It made me feel bad to loss of appetite. I stopped and OTC Tylenol past and found that it worked well. After the second surgery that does not fill my Rx and OTC Tylenol 3 is nothing more than Tylenol. It worked well for me. Why I do not remember how long it took me, but it was probably a couple of weeks. I think the perception of pain varies from one person to another. If you feel you still have significant pain, then by all means take them. However, if you are not in much pain and continue to be taken to not feel "weird", which may be time to stop or change something that no narcotics If your doctor agrees. As OTC Tylenol.

I was in the hospital on Friday and I am perhaps the research in total hip replacement because of my arthritis. In the next months, I can make my hips resurfaced and redesigned – if it fails, when I THR. I can barely walk some days and I'm in agony. I have 34 years of age. Does anyone else has been in this situation? What have you done? What should I do? Thank you very much for any advice. I have not worked for 3 years since an accident car. I may have because of THR considerable damage done to my bones. I would be if the resurfacing THR does not work.

You must appeal. A large number people who are rejected when they apply first. I guess I have to think that someone who really suffer are not going to resign. Statistically, also make a better call if you have a representative. Contact Citizens Advice and ask them to make contact with your local representative.

Hip Replacement Minimally Invasive

Get a total hip replacement, but do not trust the doctor … advice?

I have 21 and I'm scheduled for my right hip replaced months next. I want to try the minimally invasive alternative in which the muscles are not cut, but my hospital gives me throughout the X-Ray. They make minimally invasive in another hospital, but I said I can get a referral. I asked my doctor about minimally invasive hospital and told me he would not be right the first time. I have only heard good news about this new technique. I thought it was there just for the money, which made me feel very uncomfortable. I want somebody who has a passion to help and not just give me a hip. What should I do?

I had two hips replaced in separate companies. They were minimally invasive approaches. My advice is not to dwell too much on the tiny incision. If you're thin, the incision is shorter than it would be very heavy. There are drawbacks to the minimum length incision – a being that the surgeon can not see what can be done as easily as with an incision longer. Because you're too young for a total replacement (not last forever), you should worry about the type of bearing is used. If I was your age face this surgery, I ask at least the ceramic bearings. May last longer the more traditional metal or assumption Poly. As for the scar, I realized that my two scars have almost disappeared after several years. I'm sure I have kept away from sunlight (including tanning booth "Sun") for at least a year (the sun can permanently scar darker.) Here SA link where you can read about the pros and cons of mini-incision. http://totaljoints.info/MINI_INCIS_TH.htm There are more than a sort of mini-incision that does not always is unclear how "mini" really means. One technique uses two small incisions instead of one larger incision. Another might use a incision 3-4 inches. For the record, my incisions are 11 "long and extend from the center of my ass to the party as it was my thigh.
