try using the musculoskeletal supplement from standard process. i believe you have to have your vet order it for you. they have a supplement for just about everything (liver, kidney, immune, whole body, the list goes on) also you can combine the musculoskeletal and whole body and see if this helps at all. we had a client with a golden retriever that could barely stand and after a week on the supplement was walking and running like a dog in his prime. it was amazing. good luck and they do have a websute if you want to check out their products the address is www.standardprocess.com click on the the product information tab and choose veterinary formulas. from there just choose product guide and canine and click on the musculoskeletal and it will give you an overview of the product. also some glucosamine chondroitin wouldnt hurt if you havent tried that already. you can get it at wal mart in the pharmacy by the vitamins but you need to ask your vet for a dosage as i dont know it off the top of my head. good luck and hope this helps and he feels better soon

How can I improve my mobility with significant arthritis in one hip?
At 51, my orthopedist says I am too young for a hip replacement but the pain with each step has become agonizing, and the limping has caused imflammation in my SI joint. The doctor suggests three physical therapy sessions a week but with a deductible of 40.00 each adding another 480.00 minimum to my monthly budget just isn’t in the cards. And- I have had some physical therapy with little or no results. Can anyone suggest anything?
I have tried a cane, but it seems that the cane doesn’t help the hip pain much, since so much of the pain has migrated to my right SI joint and my right leg seems to have torqued a bit inward. I have tried using the cane in both hands without a lot of success.
I find it very frustrating when orthopedists say someone is “too young” for a hip replacement. Does that mean you should stop being active until you are “old enough” for a hip replacement?
To say the very least, at least he/she is trying conservative options first. First, regarding the frequency of PT of three times a week, I rarely find this to be needed unless the case is very acute or post-surgical. Most non-surgical, chronic pains can be addressed with a frequency of two times a week…especially because the goal is to show someone a home exercise program…we certainly aren’t going to cure your arthritis, so it will require long term management. PT at 1-2 times a week is often very appropriate. This may certainly make it more affordable. However, I realize that you have tried PT before, and perhaps either you need a different approach of PT or that PT simply isn’t the answer for you.
My next suggestion would be to discuss a water aerobics class…particularly if you have a facility that follows the guidelines of the national arthritis foundation. Programs sponsered by the NAF keep the pool heated to a certain degree which tends to be more comfortable for people with arthritis. You very well may get some relief from this type of program which focuses on low impact joint movements, cardiovascular health and joint flexiblity. However, even if you don’t get pain relief, at least you can exercise in a medium that should make exercise more tolerable.
You may also wish to discuss cortisone injections as a way to mange your pain. A hip resurfacing procedure, a less invasive surgery than a hip replacement may also be of consideration. Even a hemi arthroplasty would be less invasive. These are all options to discuss with your surgeon.
Next, you could venture to alternative therapies…accupunture etc. …however, the jury is still out on these types of approaches. To say the very least, it won’t hurt you or worsen your condition.
Finally, if you’ve exhausted all your options and it HAS been confirmed that arthritis is the cause of your hip pain and your surgeon continues to refuse a hip replacement, I would simply seek another opinion. I see no reason to disable a young person because they are “too young” for the procedure. While it is true that you may eventually need a revision surgery in the future, you should know that hip replacement procedures are lasting longer and longer…I’ve seen several that have lasted greater than 10 years (and remember that the technology has improved since then) and I’m sure we’ll start seeing them last 15-20 years. At that rate, better to have your revision done by age 71, rather than waiting until you are 65 to have the surgery and having to go through a revision at the age of 85 when surgery becomes a greater risk!
…I have seen MANY hip replacments performed in people under the age of 60…in fact, several have been in their 40s….it has GREATLY improved the quality of their life.
Best wishes to you.

One of the most common complaints amongst numerous adults is that of shoulder (glenohumeral) pain. Since there are numerous causes of such aches all over the world, including US cities like Fort Lauderdale (FL) and Tamarac (FL), it is imperative to say that accurate diagnosis of the cause is necessary so that proper treatment can be done to cure the pain.
As mentioned above there can be numerous causes for shoulder pain. Some of them are:
1.Rotator Cuff Tear: This is a common injury of a complicated shoulder joint. Due to the over dependence on one’s shoulder for numerous activities, these injuries happen which can be very frustrating at times. Doctors all over America, including large cities like Hollywood (FL) and Fort Lauderdale (FL) have to deal with numerous cases related to this problem every year.
2.Frozen Shoulder: Also known as adhesive capsulitis in medical terminology, it is a condition that restricts the motion of the shoulder joint. Although the cause of adhesive capsulitis is not yet understood, still it often occurs for no known reason. This type of shoulder injury causes the capsule surrounding the shoulder to contract and form scar tissues.
3.Shoulder Instability: This problem happens when the structures surrounding the shoulder joint do not function properly to maintain the ball within the glenohumeral socket. If the joint is loose then it may slide out of its natural place, a condition often termed as glenohumeral subluxation. On the other hand, when the joint comes out completely from its normal place it is termed as dislocation. Patients who face this type of issue often complain of uncomfortable sensation in this part of the body.
4.Labral Tear: Just like the hip, shoulder joint is also a ball and socket joint. However, the socket of this part of the body is extremely shallow, as a result of which it is unstable. This means that the bones in this section of the body are not held properly in place, so extra support is required.
5.Arthritis: The most common type of shoulder arthritis is known as osteoarthritis. This is also known as wear-and-tear arthritis and is characterized by gradual wearing away of the cartilage of the joint.
If you are also suffering from a nagging shoulder pain – Fort Lauderdale (FL) and Oakland Park (FL) are some of the cities in US where residents can get professional help from chiropractors from Lauderdale Chiropractic Clinic Inc. They specialize in any sort of shoulder pain and can also provide tips on how to stay away from such aches. Visit their website www.drrickbruns.com for further information about the company’s services.

Background:Fluoroscopically guided intra-articular (FGIA) anesthetic hip joint injections have been used to determine whether the hip joint is the source of a patient’s hip pain. However, there have been no reports documenting the efficacy of their use for defining the pain referral patterns (PRPs) of patients with labral tears. The aim of this study was to determine the PRPs of patients with labr…
Joint pains – the stiffness and swelling around joints is commonly associated with arthritis and osteoporosis, which are both conditions that weaken the bones and degenerate the cartilage between the bones. However, menopausal joint pain affects women between the ages of 45-55 or sometimes longer (perimenopause and menopause years) due to hormonal changes that the body will be experiencing during these years.
A joint is commonly defined as the meeting point of two or more bones where these bones move or glide over each other to make movement of the body limbs and parts possible. There are three basic types of joints in the body, namely:
Synathrosis (Fiberous) joints: which are immoveable and can be found in the skull or pelvic bone. This type of joint is held together by only a ligament.
Amphiarthrosis (Cartilaginous) joints: such as the joints found in the vertebral column and the symphysis pubis, which allow limited motion.
Diarthrosis (Synovial) joints: far more common and which are freely moveable joints found in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and ankles. Among this third group of moveable joints there are 6 sub sets:
Hinge – elbow or knee
Pivot – top of he neck
Ball & Socket – shoulder/hip
Saddle – thumb joint
Condyloid – wrist
Gliding – top of the hand/wrist
The joints allow different ranges of movements in the different parts of the body. During perimenopause and menopause, this free flow of movement in the joints is hampered by alterations in the bones and cartilages, which is caused by hormonal changes in the body. Some of these changes can cause the cartilage (which is a substance in the joint covering the bone that allows bones to glide over one another) to wear off, and the secretion of the synovial fluid which lubricates the joints can be hindered or reduced. This situation will lead to pain and swelling in the joints and, subsequently, difficulty in movement and pain. The swelling can be directly attributed to the lowering levels of hormones in the body and specifically estrogen. During menopause there could be a period of aching and sore joints, equally affecting muscles and tendons. More than half of post-menopausal women have been found to experience different degrees of joint pains. Other likely causes for sore joints could be stress, lack of exercise, weight and a poor diet, an injury of some kind and wear and tear on the joints and body generally as a result of age or lifestyle.
Early treatment of these symptoms can help to bring about relief and help to stop further development of arthritis. These are some healthy strategies that can help women effectively cope with joint pain during perimenopause as well as menopause. Having adequate rest and eating a balanced diet preferably with natural, fresh fruits and vegetables for adequate vitamin consumption, and dairy products for calcium and protein, together with sufficient levels of omega 3 nutrients. Gentle exercise not overly load bearing is good 2-3 times a week. When looking at balancing the hormones as a method of reducing joint pain or indeed some other menopause symptoms, many women in the UK and across Europe have found alleviation with a device called LadyCare. Now exclusively available in the USA, the device is thought to balance the natural hormones in the body using purely natural and drug free means. The surgical procedure known as total hip replacement was introduced in the United States in the 1960s. More than a million Americans now walk with the aid of artificial hips, replacing joints destroyed by inflammation or the wear-and-tear of arthritis.
The patient population for hip replacement is becoming increasingly younger, more active and living longer and that may require them to undergo a …
Today, I was in a home during an open house, and the listing realtor said, “Did you see the article in the Wall Street Journal, home prices just reported their first major monthly gain in almost 3 years”. My business partner and I were quick to point out that if she actually read the article, not all the news was “hip hip hooray”.
In the article, they are hopeful that the downturn in the housing market will not last as long as once predicted; however, sales have occurred due to Seller’s dropping their prices, reduction in mortgage rates, and great programs being offered to first-time home buyers. Consumer confidence is still at an all time low, and they do expect unemployment to hit double digits which could be the cause of more foreclosures in the future. I think it is more important than ever for Seller’s to be realistic about their prices if they want to sell in this market.
Again, if you do not really have to sell your home, and you are happy to have your property for the next 3 to 5 years, then this is not the market for you to participate in at this time. For Buyers that find the right property, there has never been a better time to get into real estate, especially here on Hilton Head Island. People that have been looking for the last couple of years, you will never have more choice & opportunity than you do now. If you wait, you will lose. There is a variety of things that can cause toothache pain, from cavities, to a cracked or broken tooth, and even an exposed root. Other medical conditions can cause an onset of a toothache in many cases as well, such as TemporoMandibular Joint issues. Typically a toothache is considered to be pain around the teeth or jaw. Toothache relief can come in as many varieties as well, from homeopathic remedies, to prescription drugs or even surgery.
Upon expanding on causes of toothaches, we see that not only the teeth may be involved. A condition referred to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder is a condition within the jaw joints and muscles used for chewing. With this condition comes a lot of tooth grinding, which can cause teeth to chip and even fracture. Levels of pain severity can range from mild to excruciating. Chewing, heat or cold can worsen the condition. There are other health issues that can cause tooth or jaw pain; therefore it is important to find out the basis of the pain in order to be able to provide toothache relief.
Diseases of the heart, ears, and sinuses can cause tooth and jaw pain, making it necessary to consult a physician in addition to a dentist. The most common dental related causes of toothache include dental cavities, TMJ, impaction, abscess, gum disease, cracked teeth or tooth root irritation. However, dental cavities, which are holes in the two outer layers of the tooth, are the overall most common causes for toothaches. Gum disease is the second most prevalent cause for toothache.
Treatment for cavities can include filling for a smaller cavity or a crown for a toothache relief of a larger cavity. In more severe cases may require a root canal or complete tooth extraction. Gum disease treatment includes diligent oral hygiene including professional removal of bacteria and plaque. The more serious cases of gum disease often occur when plaque hardens into tartar. Often exposed roots are involved and toothache relief occurs only after the removal of tartar through root planning, or when inflamed gums are scraped. Naturally, since these procedures involve the roots it could be quite painful, thus require a local anesthetic. Upon completion of these procedures for toothache relief typically antibiotics are used as well.
Toothache secondary to TMJ is treated with anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprophen and with regular stress reducing exercise like aerobics. A dental splint can be worn in an attempt to reposition the mandible to relieve nerve and blood vessel pressure and buffer nighttime tooth grinding in an effort to provide some semblance of toothache relief. Often braces are used in an attempt to correct the pain causing problems, but with the pain basically being located in the jaw joints, braces would be ineffective. When teeth are impacted, they are growing in the wrong direction. When this occurs the teeth can grow into nerves or bone, causing pain. This most readily occurs with back molars or wisdom teeth. Toothache pain relief in this case involves tooth removal.

Late Stage Degenerative Hip Disease Treatment performed at Orthopedic Hospitals of Goa
Late stage degenerative hip disease treatment performed at orthopedic hospitals of Goa has benefited many international patients that too at minimal cost. Goa is perfect holiday destination and now is referred as the best medical tourism destination. Surgeons performing treatment of degenerative hip disease treatment are experiencedenough for giving the best possible results. Patients can have their treatment done at much lower costs that in western countries and can relax at beautiful beaches. Moreover it will be beneficial for their recovery. Hospitals in Goa are equipped with the latest technical gadgets required for medical procedures and amenities are well versed with the International standards. Late stage degenerative hip disease treatment at Goa is the best option for patients residing in countries like U.S and U.K because the costs of medical procedures in those countries are very high.
What is Late Stage Degenerative Hip Disease?
A degeneration or ‘wear and tear’ of articular (joint surface) cartilage, usually accompanied by an overgrowth of bone (osteophytes) narrowing of the joint space, sclerosis or hardening of bone at the joint surface, and deformity in joints of hip is called Late stage degenerative hip disease. Osteoarthritis is not usually associated with inflammation, although swelling of the joint does frequently occur in Osteoarthritis. This type of arthritis is called Osteoarthritis, Osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease, DJD, or osteoarthritis. Other forms of arthritis (rheumatoid, post-traumatic, and other inflammatory disorders) frequently may have Osteoarthritis as the end-stage, making differentiation difficult.
Symptoms of Degenerative Hip Disease
Initially there may be joint stiffness, usually lasting more than 15 minutes, and typically following activity of the joint. Later there may be pain on motion of the affected joint, which is made worse with activity or weight-bearing and relieved by rest. Typically Osteoarthritis improves with rest and does not remain symptomatic at night time. It is usually better in the morning, and it worsens as the day progresses.
Late Stage Degenerative Hip DiseaseTreatment
Surgery may be dramatically effective for patients with late stage degenerative hip disease. Total hip replacement and newer hip resurfacing replacements can be extremely effective. The concerns about wear of the prosthetic joint surface in younger patients make this the most challenging aspect of future research in this area. Newer joint surfaces for joint replacement including highly cross-linked polyethylene, metal on metal bearing, ceramic bearings, and others have emerged and currently are available in the U.S.
Although arthroscopic surgery for hip replacement is a common procedure, its long-term effectiveness is unclear, and may be best for symptoms such as catching, locking, or those that have been present for only a short duration. In addition, not all patients that have arthritis should have an arthroscopy, as this may not improve their symptoms.
In younger patients with late stage degenerative hip disease, preserving procedures should be considered, in order to avoid a hip replacement. Although performed less frequently, hip preserving procedures, such as osteotomy (cutting the bone and realigning the bone or joint surface), may restore a joint to a normal alignment and be an excellent alternative to joint replacement.
Why Goa?
Late stage degenerative hip disease treatmentat Goa is the most preferred option in international patients at minimal cost. These days it seems like every country in the world promotes itself as a heaven for medical tourism. The reality is that in most cases they offer sub-standard facilities and limited skills/qualifications. India has tens of thousands of skilled physicians and nurse practitioners for mesenteric ischemia treatment. Over the last two decades, the economic boom in India has led to the building of medical facilities & infrastructure that rival the very best that western medical care that the west has to offer. Many of the physicians that practice in these hospitals and clinics have returned (to India) from the U.S. and Europe, leaving behind successful practices. While some small countries may be viable as alternatives for minor surgical procedures, India is the only mainstream option that offers a comprehensive solution for any and all medical needs, and does this with the highest levels of service, facilities and professional skills. Hip Pain: Sciatica or Bursitis and how to treat it?
Hi, i’m 14 year old and I’ve been running Track and Field for 3 years. This year in grade 9 I injured my hip. It would only hurt if I stretch the hip or touch it. I thought it was nothing so i continued to run track. Then it got so bad that it hurt to walk so i stopped. I iced it, heated it, took anti-inflammatory medicine (Ibuprofen) and warmed up before stretching. Nothing worked and it’s been 3 months so I went for a X-Ray and I think the doctor told me that i had Sciatica or Bursitis….I forgot which one.
Also After 2 months without any exersize it got better and i thought that it was gone until i played basketball with some friends and I also raced them…I also did Ab Ripper X from P90X after. The next day it kinda hurt to walk and it hurt alot to touch it.
So my question is: How do I know if i have hip sciatica or bursitis?
Also I heard online that acupuncture work wonders on hip pain.
Should I continue to wait or try acupuncture?
I’m only 14 !

Are You Suffering From Pain? New Revolutionary Pain Technique Helps Eliminate Pain In Seconds
If you’ve been told you suffer from pain, then reading this article may be the most important thing you’ve done this year! Why? Because you’re about to discover the truth about pain and why most people will always suffer from it no matter how many Medical doctors they go to or how many surgeries they’ve had.
Here it is. It’s finally here… Exactly what you’ve been looking for… Your greatest hopes and wishes about relieving your pain are possibly about to be fulfilled… It all lies right in front of you – at your very finger tips – in the next several hundred words…
Imagine how great you would feel without your constant, nagging aches and pains.
Imagine how easy your life would be if you could just do all the things you want and love to do without feeling exhausted and miserable.
Imagine waking up in the morning, springing out of bed, feeling refreshed…no more feeling like you got hit by a bus in your sleep!!!
Imagine not having to take handfuls of all those expensive pain medications that haven’t helped and can have terrible side effects.
Well, stop imagining…It’s Here!!!
If you suffer from the constant, nagging pains, in your wrist, back, neck, hip, shoulder, knee, digestion, head, ankle or suffer from numbness and tingling, migraines, headaches, vertigo, fibromyalgia. Then you must keep reading this article!
Many Doctors Don’t Have A Clue About Treating Your Pain! If you’ve been to your family or company doctor complaining about the numbness or tingling, in your back or neck then chances are your doctor has said something along these lines, “You probably got Impingement Syndrome. Wear this brace when your pain starts up, take these pills too…” This is a blaring alarm your doctor may not be the person to talk to if you really want to safely get rid of your pain quickly!
Dirty Little Secrets Of Pain Medications, Braces, And Cortisone Shots. Taking any pain medication (over the counter or prescription) will never be a cure for getting rid of your pain once and for all! At best, these drugs will only offer 4-6 hours of relief by sabotaging your brain’s ability to feel the pain. This may be fine for getting you through a days work but taking these pills over and over can put you at risk in 2 ways: 1. Pain is your body’s way to preventing further injury. Take away the pain and you may make your injury worse and your pain greater. And… 2. Taking these drugs can have adverse effects on your kidneys, liver, and stomach lining which is even worse than the pills you are taking for your pain in the first place. A cortisone injection sweeps your pain under the rug just like your medications do, and like your medications, it will wear off and your pain will come back probably worse than ever. Wearing a splint or brace may be a temporary solution but if your constant pain reduces you to wearing a splint or brace all day, you can be put at risk of damaging your injured area more by allowing scar tissue to form.
Here’s Why Surgery Has A High Failure Rate. If your doctor has suggested you to consult a surgeon or if you’ve already had surgery performed, there is important information you simply must know! You see, most doctors don’t have the training or experience to detect what it is that is making you hurt. There are many blanket terms used to describe any number of problems you may be suffering from. If your doctor cannot tell you exactly what’s wrong with you, then any treatment he gives you will never get you out of pain. This is why surgery fails so often for pain victims… the surgery is being performed in the wrong place! Worse yet…
You May Not Even Have The Problem Your Doctor Diagnosed You With! There are numerous conditions that can make you feel pain that have nothing to do with your actual location of pain at all! What if, all along, there was something else wrong with you and your doctor overlooked the hidden spot missed by 99% of the doctors who treat pain sufferers? What if all the attention paid on your area of pain turned out to be useless? What if there was a way to detect if you suffer from an injury in this hidden spot and could be pain free quickly without drugs or surgery? As a matter of fact, “traditional” treatments left many exhausted, in constant pain, thinking they had to live with this for the rest of their lives. Before I tell you EXACTLY how my patients went from being mentally and physically in pain to doing everything they want and love to do, Here is a little warning…
A Legitimate Reason You Might Not Choose To Read Any Further and Discover The One Thing That Can Possibly Resolve Your Pain. Sometimes you’ve been brought up the old fashioned way where you do things simply because “that’s the way you’ve always done them.” You have a closed mind and will never change no matter what facts are presented to you. You won’t even listen to them. You may still think traditional medicine is the best & only treatment for everything and you will never try anything else. You love drugs. You love surgery. You love suffering. If you are this type of person, this is not for you. It’s okay. It’s not for everybody.
There is a new revolutionary technique for pain that has helped well over 90% of patient be pain free. People think that you have to deal with pain for the rest of your life.
Patients actually call this technique a “miracle”, “revolutionary” and “phenomenal”. This technique has even astonished 325 MD’s in Phoenix and 35 MD’s in Chicago. They were absolutely amazed to see how chronic pain was relieved in seconds. Here is the important fact; most of his patients feel better and get out pain without surgeries or medications. There are not many doctors out there that perform the technique In just a few short visit patients already notice an improvement.
Don’t wait until your pain gets worse, say to yourself I want to be pain free. You must take action of your life, because if you won’t than who will. At first most people are skeptic about this technique until they actually experience their first treatment. Let’s be honest most people don’t care how they get from point A to point B. All people care about is results.

Having a sitz bath involves the process of sitting in a bath of warm water and just immersing the butt and hips.
Procedure: Pour warm water into your sitz bath. Make sure that it is just warm and not hot. Then, you may add some baking soda into it. If you wish, you can add juniper or lavender oil instead of baking soda. All of them have the capacity to ease swelling. Anyway, soak into it for at least 20 minutes. After which, gently pat the area dry using a cotton towel. You can do this procedure twice daily.
A sitz bath is an effective remedy for treating piles. It works by cleaning and relaxing the affected area. It also promotes blood flow, making the swollen veins shrink and heal. It also relieves itching and pain.
Chamomile
You must already know about the powers of chamomile and how great it is in soothing the skin of both children and adult. However, aside from its skin-smoothening property, it is also a good treatment for piles.
Chamomile may come in the form of an ointment or tea. Either of them can work as a cure for hemorrhoids.
Procedure: When using the ointment, apply it to the piles as often as needed to immediately relieve the bothersome symptoms. When using the tea, simply soak the tea bag for three minutes and then cool it. When it has already cooled down, put it in the refrigerator. Once already cold, you can apply it to piles as often as needed.
Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties which make it a great remedy for hemorrhoids. It reduces redness, soothes irritated veins, and stops itching.
Exercise
It may sound a bit weird, but exercising can really be a good way to cure piles. Even just a 20 or 30-minute walk could do wonders to your body, yes, even down there! However, if you want to focus on exercising the muscles in the rectal area, there’s also something you can do: learn kegels.
Kegel exercise is the exercise to toughen the pelvic floor muscles. If you are unfamiliar with these muscles, you can determine them by trying to hold the flow of your pee. The muscles that stop it are the pelvic floor muscles. The more these muscles are exercised, the more stimulated the bowels become. It also improves the blood circulation in the rectal area, making the swollen blood vessels shrink and go back to normal.
These are three of the best home treatments you can use in dealing with hemorrhoids. If you want something new and natural, try any remedy mentioned above and see the difference.

if it’s not gout or rheumatoid arthritis what is it?
My doctor said by the blood test it’s not gout also from what I’ve read online my toes should be painful. My toes are fine. The other doctor ( a rheumatologist } said by the x rays it’s not rheumatoid arthritis and he thinks I have gout attacks , so is there anything else that could have the same systems?
For around a year and a half I’ve had sudden attacks of acute pain , redness , warmth, swelling , in my hands, knees, hip, shoulders. I can’t move these joints because the pain is so great. Does it have to be one or the other or can it be something else?
An x-ray of the affected area during an “attack” would facilitate definitive diagnosis.
Gout most commonly affects the big toe, but it can occur in other areas (including knees, hips and even ears.) It’s actually a build up of uric acid, which forms crystals in the affected area. The crystals are what cause the pain… and they can be seen on x-ray.
Your rheumatologist is really an authority on this. Blood tests are not necessarily conclusive/diagnostic for gout.
