Hip Replacement Precautions

hip replacement precautions
Hip?

After surgical treatment of hip replacement who must always be on the precautions to ever disappear or are hip after a certain period of time, and after hip fracture surgery

I had both hips replaced in separate cabinets. About 5 years have passed and the only precaution that was suggested that I was to avoid abduction or internal rotation of my hip, while at the same time, bend the hip more 90 degrees. What this means in practical terms is that when I pick up something on the ground or tie my shoes or put a sock, I keep my knees apart and collect the article as a quarterback. Really the only "precaution" I stayed with the surgeon and not cramp my style at all. A caution tax itself consists of my determination not to participate in high impact sports and activities in the interest of preserving my joints false. Apart from that and things meaning common and non-routine lifting and carrying heavy loads, I'm quite do what I need. Note that surgeons vary in their requirements and precautions and these measures are different depending on the surgical technique. To avoid unpleasant surprises after surgery, have a little conversation with the surgeon prior to surgery of this type of activity, it is recommended and not recommended after surgery and how long it might take all the precautions. So I guess the answer to your Q is "No, not always predictive of life care, but sometimes they do."

total hip replacement treatment
How long a person with a hip still need to take antibiotics before seeing a dentist?

My hip arthroplasty is 11 years and took 2000 mg of amoxicillin one hour before dental treatment. How long do I have to continue taking medication? Attention, please delete the word "Forever." Question should read: "For how long a person with a hip need antibiotics before visiting a the dentist? "Sorry, I'm so tired," oooo!

For prophylactic antibiotics in "high risk" patients as yourself .. simply take 2 grams (single dose) before treatment and that's it. There is no antibiotic treatment continued. Hope that helps,

after hip replacement pain
thigh pain 6 months after total hip replacement?

I had a total hip replacement in January 09. I recovered well, walking without a cane 7 days after surgery. I have developed mid thigh pain in the leg with the replaced hip.

If your stem is uncemented, you may be experiencing what is called “end-of-stem” pain. If you click on this link you will find a discussion of post-THR hip pain which may interest you.

http://totaljoints.info/pain_THIP.htm#4

And if you scroll down to:
“Thigh pain in cementless total hip”, you will find remarks that consider the kind of pain you may be having. In the final analyses, you need to bring this up with your surgeon if the pain persists. Here is what Dr. Surin says about end-of-stem pain:

“pain from a cementless femur component is quite frequent during the first two postoperative years, although the X-ray shows well healed shaft of the total hip prosthesis.

The pain if felt in the thigh, it may be worse during or after much activity / motion.

There is no known treatment for this type of pain. In some patients this pain successively diminishes and disappears completely, in other patients the pain lasts unchanged.

In some studies cementless prostheses with apatite coating proved to produce only slight thigh pain.”

Cemented Total Hip Replacement Surgery Abroad At Affordable Cost

Cemented Total Hip Replacement Surgery Abroad

Cemented Total Hip Replacement

Over the past 40 years, there have been many improvements in both the materials and the methods used to hold the femoral and acetabular components in place. Today, the most commonly used bone cement is an acrylic polymer called polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA).

A patient with a cemented total hip replacement can put full weight on the limb and walk without support almost immediately after surgery, resulting in a faster rehabilitation. Although cemented implants have a long and distinguished track record of success, they are not ideal for everyone…

Cemented Total Hip Replacement in Abroad

Cement fixation has a 30-year history in total hip arthroplasty. Cement fixation is a durable and reproducible means of fixation in a variety of hips. A key determinant to a cement mantle’s longevity is the technique of cementing. This article reviews what has been learned in the past and outlines the state of the art in cement technique today.

One of the relatively recent changes in cement and arthroplasty is that a multitude of cements are available on the market. Although the durability of well-made cement mantles around implants is fairly consistent among cements, the products differ in terms of viscosity, working time, and setting. A surgeon must know the details of the particular cement he or she intends to use, as it will influence the cement technique. Working time and setting time vary among the different cements…

Cementing Technique

Bone preparation is critical for long-term survivorship of both the cemented stem and the cup.4 The aim is to provide a clean, stable bony bed for cement interdigitation into the remaining cancellous bone and to maintain stable interfaces between the implant and cement, and the cement and the bone.

Most investigators would agree that a surgeon should remove all loose cancellous bone but leave the remaining dense bone nearest to the cortex to enhance interdigitation of the cement into the remaining bone. This increases the shear strength of the cement and gives the best contact of the cement mantle to the remaining bone stock. Reaming with cylindrical or tapered reamers in the femur is often performed to remove the loosest bone but should be done by hand to leave a remnant of cancellous bone. It is important not to ream away all cancellous bone, as this will leave a smooth inner cortex and diminish the ability for the cement to bond to the bone…

Acetabulum

On the acetabular side, the concepts are similar to the femur; removal of loose cancellous bone, cleaning of bony surfaces, and pressurization of cement into the bony bed. The bone should be reamed until cancellous bone is visualized and special attention should be paid to bone preparation and pressurization in zone 1.14,15 All pelvic cysts should be curetted, cleaned, and grafted. Anchor holes should be placed into the bone to improve long-term fixation.

The bone should be dried. However, drying the bone is difficult to achieve on the acetabulum, as there is no canal to plug to limit bleeding. Sponges with a low concentration of thrombin have been used in the past…

hip replacement age
About join Replacement operation?

Hello everybody, my son had septicemia 5 days after birth and his left hip joint is destructed due to septic arthritis. Now he is 23 yrs old. Since for last 6, 7 yrs he is bending his left knee to adjust the shortening and due to this his under knee muscles have become tight. We consulted an orthopedic to get his knee corrected; he suggested an operation to loosen his under knee muscles and said that his leg would become straight. We went for a second opinion where the doctor suggested that since his femoral head has been destructed and has gone2 inches up, the hip joint has to be replaced. Some of our known people say that at this young age hip replacement should not be done. We are totally confused. My son has 3 months vacation and we want his operation to be done during this period. Please give me your opinions, suggestions and other possible ways about this.

Young age is considered more suitable for operations…
Your ‘SOME KNOWN PEOPLE’ are MISGUIDING you about this…
Youngsters are able to withstand the rigors of surgery easily… they are also capable to recover faster and better…
As he grows, older the thing will become more and more complicated… and he will have to live with this problem even longer…

hip replacement pain after surgery
Can anyone tell me how much pain I am after hip surgery or hip resurfacing?

I'll take my left hip resurfaced on June 3 and was wondering how much pain, I'll be after the surgery. Those who have had hip or hip resurfaced if Please let me know on a scale of 1-10. I know that everyone is different and that the pain varies around the world. I have 21 years of age and can take a little pain. I just want to know how to be in what I can prepare for the worst. Thanks

This could be a difficult question to answer that pain is subjective, as you mention, but we hope which will have an excellent doctor and anesthesiologist to help you manage your pain. Because you're young, your pain management is more effective than someone who can be slightly higher (This has to do with his kidney function and metabolism). While under control, you can begin to rehabilitate and become stronger. Good luck:)
