Im worried..about my dad?
My dad has had alot of previous heart attacks due to his weight, since then he has put on a good 5 more stone, and has been put in a special block of flats for people who are likely to need emergency care ( have red cords everywhere which you pull in an emergency to send for help ) , he always has trouble with swelling of the leg, and hes needed a hip replacement for ages. i really worry about him as he is also getting on a bit. But i feel so helpless no matter how much i try and warn him or encourage him by telling him how much healthy food tastes great these days, but he dosnt seem to worry about it !. and as i live in cornwall and he lives in birmingham, i cant physically cook his dinners for him. im really concerned for his health, please help i think he’s in diah strates.
Unfortunately, there is not much you can do. He is an adult and will make his own decisions. I have a similar situation with my husband. He is overweight, has hypertension and smokes. Of course, I worry, but no matter how much I try, I cannot make him change his habits. All I can do is love him and hope that he will see the light. If you nag too much, you ruin the time that you do have together. Worry, hope, pray and try to encourage him. That is really about all that you can do.
